As you might know Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 theses on the door of the ´Schlosskirche` in Wittenberg. This action symbolizes the start of the protestant reformation…which was exactly 500 years ago.

But did you know that today you can still follow the history of Martin Luther throughout Germany?

For example in Eisenach, where Luther lived disguised as “Junker Jörg” at Wartburg Castle, working on his translation of the new testament from Greek into German. Every year around 350.000 visitors enjoy the beauty of the Wartburg.

If you want to get a more detailed impression of Luther’s private life, you can visit several memorial places in the official Luther towns of Wittenberg, Eisleben and Mansfeld. All of them are either considered as European Heritage or even got UNESCO-world-heritage-status. Also, there are many more cities worth a visit on your way...
