Kirsten Alvey-Mudd may not look like the superhero you typically associate with bats, but she's doing important work to save these nocturnal creatures. When white-nose syndrome began killing bats in her home state, she founded the Missouri Bat Census. Her goal is to survey and track the health of as many bats as possible so that she can help keep these flying mammals in the air.
