Greg Roberts discusses a very important conundrum in modern education. Why should all students study Math? Students have near-constant access to calculators or computers. He challenges that view and encourages education focus on mathematical thinking, so that students can make progress on any problem that comes their way and apply the skills they learn in the classroom in whatever field they choose to specialize in. Greg Roberts is a mathematician. He loves coming home from a day's worth of teaching and getting stuck into math problems. He wants students to focus on the problem solving in Math, not the procedure. He tries to impart mathematical thinking skills to his students to prepare them for the math of the future, allowing them to apply their skills learned in the classroom in any field they choose to specialize in. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
