In this new socio-political climate, how do we tell the stories of what America is becoming...and may be missing along the way? Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton examines how mythology can serve as a vehicle for inclusion, creation, and representation. Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton is an internationally-known Poet, Singer, Actress, Photographer, Wife, and Mother. A native-Californian who now resides in Houston, D.E.E.P. was the first African-American Poet Laureate for the City of Houston, and ranked the #2 Best female Poet in the World.

D.E.E.P. has established herself as a notable force in the Performance and Slam Poetry World. Her recent poetry collection, Newsworthy, is available now through Bloomsday Literary. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
