Details into the moments leading up to Kanye West's hospitalization continued to surface on Thursday [December 1], with the leaking of an audio recording of the 911 emergency dispatcher advising that he take safety precautions after West's doctor requested that police be sent along with an ambulance.
"I don't think the paramedics can uh, you know," West's doctor said after asking that police backup be sent. Following his insinuation that Kanye would have to be restrained, the dispatcher urged that he keep an eye on him, responding: "Don't let him get any weapons or anything like that. If anything changes, if he does become physically combative between now and when police and/or paramedics get there, call us back immediately."
The Los Angeles Fire Department leaked the audio one day after Kanye was discharged from UCLA Medical Center, where he spent over a week under observation after reportedly suffering from exhaustion. Prior to his being admitted, the legendary rapper/producer created a media firestorm with a series of controversial statements he made in concert, in regards to his relationship with Jay-Z and supposed support for Donald Trump. After subsequently abandoning a Sacramento show after performing only two songs, it was announced that he was canceling the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour. The next day the media was in a frenzy with reports of West being cuffed to a gurney and carted off for a psychiatric evaluation.
