Deepana Gandhi dreamed of a career in math/science, but she grew up in rural India where women aren't typically afforded the same opportunities as men. After struggling to find a job, Deepana eventually landed at Indus in Bangalore, where she works on the equations necessary for navigating to the moon

Deepana Gandhi is a part of Team Indus, which aims to land a robotic craft on the Moon by December 2017 as part of Google’s Lunar XPrize race. Her team is one of sixteen and the sole entry from India to the competition which will award a staggering $30 million to the winning team. She grew up in the town of Ooty in Tamil Nadu.
