CERN's "Long Shutdown 1" (LS1), which began in February 2013, has meant large-scale work to modernize the infrastructure and prepare the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for operation at higher energy. LS1 has also been a great opportunity to film underground locations that will not be accessible when the LHC restarts in spring 2015.

CERN’s Visual Media Office is currently recording footage in 4k resolution for the archive, in preparation for future needs of the Media. By clicking on the cog icon on the bottom right of the video you can select to view this film in 4k.

CERN provides an extensive library of footage free to use for documentary producers, TV and press.
