Seed mast cycle

A mast year occurs every 2-6 years, when some of our native trees seed all at once. Heavy seeding leads to an explosion in introduced predator numbers. The predators then turn to our endangered native birds for food.

This year we’re predicting one of the most widespread masts ever — a mega mast! We must act now to protect our vulnerable wildlife.
