A world record attempt didn’t go according to plan when a biker’s attempt resulted in a horrific crash.

Downhill mountain biker Johannes Fischbach, 31, headed up a 140-metre-high ramp at the Vogtland Arena Klingental, Germany on September 16, with one thing on his mind – to break the world record for the longest jump with a mountain bike.

Flying overhead, drone pilot Phil Freybott, 30, was on hand to capture the momentous occasion as Johannes began his speedy descent.

All was looking well as Johannes took off from the ramp, but things quickly took a turn for the worse as he began to rotate in mid-air, resulting in a horrific crash to the floor.
