Dutee Chand is an Indian professional sprinter and holds the title of national champion in the women’s 100 meters event currently. She is the third Indian women to ever qualify for Women’s 100 meters event at the Summer Olympics Games. Her long list of achievements included a lot of firsts with her being the the first Indian sprinter to win a gold medal at the Universiade ⁣
She is also the first Indian athlete to openly come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. ⁣
While physical strength and excellence is obliviously attributed to males, the hugely oblivious side points to women. Fewer in "recognisable" names in Indian Sports world, but making huge marks in various fields. Sports has been a way for them to express their prowess, one obliquely mistaken by the society. ⁣

She is the third Indian woman to ever qualify for the Women's 100 metres event at the Summer Olympic Games. In 2018, Chand clinched silver in women's 100m at the Jakarta Asian Games. It was India's first medal in this event since 1998. In 2019, she became the first Indian sprinter to win gold at the Universiade. Dutee is also India's first athlete to openly come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, when she spoke about being in a same-sex relationship in 2019.
